April 2009

April 6, 2009

Another month has come and gone and for the most part March was a good month for me. I had hoped to leave Houston with the $50,000 but it wasn’t meant to be but at least the $50,000 went to one of my traveling buddies. Curtis Cassidy was the big winner after stopping the clock in 3.3 seconds in the shootout round. What a fun round that was too. Dean Gorsuch was the first guy to go and he turned in a 3.6. Then Curtis went and got a 3.3. Stockton Graves was up next but he broke the barrier. So I knew I needed to be 3.2 to win the big check. Well I got a little too anxious and broke the barrier. Although I didn’t win, it was great to see Curtis in the winner’s circle.

Following Houston, I did add a win to my name at the Laughlin (Nev.) River Stampede. I picked up checks totaling right around $3,500. From there I went to Virginia to a sponsor appearance for U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Co. I have been home for the past couple of days and getting ready to head to Logandale (Nev.) and then on to Pocatello for the Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo.

The DNCFR is about a month later this year as the DNCFR committee moved their dates so that they would not be competing with RodeoHouston. I am looking forward to going up there and for me it wouldn’t matter what time of the year it was, as long as I had a chance to win a new truck. (Each champion gets a free Dodge truck for a year) Our traveling group could use a new truck for the next year to rodeo in, so hopefully by this time next week I will be picking out a brand new pickup. I will try to keep my site updated with my results so be sure to check back often.

I will be in Logandale for the first and second rounds on Tuesday and Wednesday before jumping on a plane with Randon Adams and a few other guys headed to Pocatello. I am up on Wednesday night in Pocatello, so it will be a busy day but hopefully very profitable. We are going to be using Smarty in Logandale, which is Billy Bugenig’s horse and then we are fortunate to have the services of Willie in Pocatello. I believe Beau Franzen, Billy (Bugenig) and I will be using Willie for sure. You just can’t find a better horse. I am really looking forward to it.

Cade is growing and he is crawling all over the place. He has started to pull himself up on things, so I am sure it won’t be long until he is walking all over the place. Lindsay and Cade came over to Laughlin for slack and then I was able to go home for a few days, so that has been nice. That is about all I have for now. Hope everyone is doing well and will be back in touch soon.
